From A Girl’s Point of View recently got a chance to chat with recording artist, Amanda Leigh. In the interview, she speaks on her hit single, “Sweet Love”, who she would like to work with in the future, one of our favorite songs, Victim, which appeared on her mixtape, Worthy Of Love, and more. Check out the interview below.

Kia: Hello Amanda, how are you? I really appreciate you taking time out to chat with me.

Amanda: No problem, Anytime! :-) .

Kia: So for those readers who may not know you, tell them a little bit about you.

Amanda: My full name is Amanda Leigh Ward. Born in Detroit, Michigan residing in Los Angeles, Ca and been pursuing music professionally since the age of 14.

Kia: Now we know you recently released the video for your single, “Sweet Love”, how did the title and song come about? And will the song make it to your debut album?

Amanda: Sweet Love was the perfect title for that song because the concept of the song is Loving someone so much and never wanting to leave their side. No matter what you guys go through, the make ups, and break ups you know you’re always going to stick to that person like glue because that’s your guy…And no matter how people perceive your relationship, they can be quiet because they just need to upgrade their guy haha. And yes, definitely want it to be on my album! I love ”Sweet love” its romantic, fun, and playful.

Kia: Many of our male readers want to know, are you single and ready to mingle? Are you in a relationship with someone?

Amanda: Single.

Kia: When did you realize that music was what want you wanted to pursue and how long have you been singing?

Amanda: I have been singing since the age of 4 as far as I can remember..I grew up singing at church and at school in our musicals. I always knew I wanted to sing professionally, I would always watch my aunts sing on stage and would just think to myself ”Wow! I want to do that! I wanna be up there”.

Kia: Quoting one of your lyrics: “Baby I hope somebody breaks your heart so you can know how it feels to be a victim”. Even though you’re a rising star, Do you still wish that on your ex’s and if so, why?

Amanda: Aw, ”Victim” I love that song… Such an emotional song, and we all have that moment when we just feel so broken and used…and even though I’m not a vindictive person, It’s always those times where you just wish someone can feel how they once made you feel, so they can see how it’s wrong, and how it hurts…But I’m in a different place than I was when that song was recorded. I hope all my ex’s have moved on and learned from the mistakes we both made in those relationships, so I guess that’s a no haha

Kia: What music artists would you like to work with in near future?

Amanda: I would love to eventually work with all the artists that have inspired me since I was kid. I would literally sit and study Brandy, Sade, Beyonce, Jill Scott, Lauryn Hill the lists goes on & on…but those are my favs…Such inspiring music and souls. I would love to be connected on a track to them.

Kia: Where do you see yourself in the next two years?

Amanda: In the next two years I see myself traveling…doing shows, making more videos. and just advancing in music period. writing, dancing, recording…steady advancing and who knows whats to come, Ive been working hard, so I only have positive things in my view.

Kia: Who are some of your favorite music artist?

Amanda: I listen to so much diff stuff I cant really name a few favs…ummm From Bob Marley, to Toni Braxton to Brandy & Aaliyah to Coldplay. Anything inspiring that has that quality sound.

Kia: What advice do you have for those wishing to break into the music industry?

Amanda: Go hard! be you and be dedicated and envision what you want from this. Know your goals and strengths and the weaknesses you gotta work on..Your work ethic is what determines your future.

Kia:Are there any projects you are currently working on that you would like us all to know about? If so, please feel free to share them with us!

Amanda: I’m working on more videos now. Comedic videos, and some more videos of me performing like ”Sweet Love”. Also still working on more music to give you guys! And stay tuned for tour dates :-) Make sure to watch my video on Youtube!
