Halle Berry‘s mother, Judith Hawkins, has broken her silence about the contentious custody battle and brutal fight between her daughter’s ex Gabriel Aubry and current fiancee, Olivier Martinez.

“This cannot go on things have got to calm down,” Judith Hawkins told Celebuzz, in an exclusive interview.

The Oscar winner’s mother spoke out following the violent Thanksgiving day fight between French actor Martinez, 46, and Aubry, 36, that landed both men in the hospital.

The incident occurred after the Canadian model handed over his four-year-old daughter with Berry, Nahla, at the star’s West Hollywood, Calif. home.

“As far as I know Halle and Nahla are fine though,” the actress’ mother said, when asked how both were holding up amid the controversy.

But Hawkins, who raised her famous daughter in Ohio, said that it is time common sense prevailed in the bitter feud that has been dragging through the Los Angeles court system for months.

“I hope that things get better, I really hope that they do; they have got to get better,” Hawkins, a former psychiatric nurse, said.

Both Aubry and Martinez were treated for injuries following the fight, with Aubry coming off much worse. He was photographed sporting a bruised face and horrific black eye, while Martinez walked away with a badly swollen hand.

After the bust-up, the Calvin Klein model was booked on a misdemeanor battery charge and later released on $20,000 bail. He obtained a civil restraining order against Martinez at L.A. County Superior Court on Monday afternoon, claiming the actor threatened to “kill” him.

In a court declaration obtained by TMZ, Aubry claimed Martinez told him he had better move to Paris so his little girl could be with Berry, adding that, ”We called the cops … you’re going to tell them that you’re the one who attacked me, or I’m going to kill you.”

He also alleges that Martinez took his head in his hand and slammed it on the concrete driveway.

Aubry is expected back in court Dec. 13.

Berry was also granted an emergency protection order against Aubry banning him from coming within 100 yards of herself, Martinez and Nahla, and she has also hired armed bodyguards to protect her 24/7.

However, a judge ruled Tuesday that Aubry will be allowed to resume visitation with Nahla, with unspecified precautions in place to protect her safety. For more on this story, head over to Celebuzz.
